CASS wins five ARC Future Fellowships

The ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences has been awarded five new Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowships announced today. ARC Future Fellowships aim to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers to undertake research in areas of critical national importance by giving outstanding researchers incentives to conduct their research in Australia.
The successful CASS ARC Future Fellows and their research areas are:
Professor Desmond Manderson (Research School of Humanities and the ANU College of Law) - The sight of justice: images and the rule of law
Dr Jo McDonald (School of Archaeology & Anthropology) - Rock Art of the Western Desert and Great Basin: long term social responses to environmental change
Dr Maria Nugent (School of History) - Remembering dispossession: interpreting Aboriginal historical narratives
Dr Phillip Piper (School of Archaeology & Anthropology) - Identifying the transition from hunting to animal management in mainland and island Southeast Asia: origins, impacts and proxies for human migration
Professor Daniel Stoljar (School of Philosophy) - Knowledge of consciousness
